Remote Book Check-Out
XIS Patrons (students, parents, teachers, and staff) may check out up to 10 books for up to a period of two weeks.
Follow the steps that follow to check out books remotely from the XIS Library:
1. Search for books using the XIS online catalog (click below)
2. Watch this video that shows you how to search for books using the online catalog.
3. Send an email to: xislibrary@xischina.com.cn with the following information:
- student's full name:
- homeroom (from 19-20 school year):
- books requested (include title and author's last name)
4. When your books are ready for pick-up, you will receive an email.
5. Books will be waiting for pick-up at the XIS guard house.

Student's Full Name: Emily Lee
Homeroom: 6LB
Books Requested:
1. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Rowling)
2. Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Kinney)
3. Charlotte's Web (White)
The continued safety of our XIS community is important to us, so we are implementing the following precautions in light of Covid-19. These include:

Wiping down checked-in books with a cleaning solution before they are placed on the shelves;

Handling books and book bags with gloves;

Wearing masks when working in the library;

Waiting three days before returned books are placed on shelves for further check-out.
6. Return the books within two weeks inside a bag. Please reuse/recycle the bag that was provided if it is still functioning. Elementary students may use their designated XIS book pouches or bags.
